At the risk of writing another entry about Alice in Wonderland, you must MUST see Phoebe in Wonderland. I saw it last night and it was a brilliant, beautifully made film. It’s not another version of Alice per ce, but the movie does revolve around the Alice story. It takes place in real life, it’s not a jump down the rabbit hole, but with this little girl’s active imagination, there are quite a few bits of fantastical fun. Below is the IMDB description:
Phoebe is the fantastical tale of a little girl who won’t, or can’t, follow the rules. Confounded by her clashes with the rule-obsessed world around her, Phoebe seeks enlightenment from her unconventional drama teacher, even as her brilliant but anguished mother looks to Phoebe herself for inspiration.
You can see the Phoebe in Wonderland trailer on the movie’s website.
Elle Fanning’s performace was phenomenal, I really can’t say enough about how great she was in this role. She really just took on the character and it was effortless (or at least it seems that way). Also starring are Felicity Huffman, Bill Pullman and Patricia Clarkson.
If you liked movies like Ma Vie en Rose (no not, the Edith Piaf movie), Pan’s Labyrinth, Tideland and of course Alice in Wonderland, I think you’ll really enjoy this one. I fully intend to purchase this movie today!
